100 Days of Characters
Overview
For the last 100 days of 2020 I decided to improve my illustration skills by creating an original character from scratch every day. My favourites are featured below. The full project can be followed on my Instagram.
The Process
Timelapse Videos
I scan the initial pencil and paper sketches into the computer. Then trace over them in ‘After Effects’ using shape layers. I prefer this method over using ‘Illustrator’ as it means the finished characters with be much easier to animate in future. ‘After Effects’ also has a huge selection of effects that can be used to add depth, shadows and lighting.
